Cape Fear Elementary School observed Fire Prevention Week (Oct. 5th through 9th) with members of the Long Creek Grady Volunteer Fire Dept. and the Carolina Crew Singing Fireman. 
    All 3rd grade students had the opportunity to explore four different stations set up by the Fire Department. These stations included: “The Smoke House”, a new obstacle course, the fire truck and the water/foam station. 
    Members of the Long Creek Grady Fire Department stayed to have lunch with the 3rd grade students while answering questions about fire and listening to experiences students may have had with fire.
    At the end of the day, a school wide assembly was held, where the Carolina Crew took the stage singing, dancing and rapping fire safety songs to the tunes of very familiar songs. Children were singing “Stop, Drop, and Roll” and dancing in a conga line as they sang “Hot, Hot, Hot!” As students exited the assembly, they could still be heard humming the tunes taught to them by the Carolina Crew!
