Pender County — Twenty-three Pender County teachers were recognized as Jones-Onslow Electric Membership Corporation Bright Ideas grants recipients during a special ceremony Wednesday, Dec. 9, at Jacksonville High School.
Combined, Pender County teachers received more than $5,700 in grant funding.
North Carolina’s electric cooperatives have offered Bright Ideas education grants to teachers in K-12 classrooms across the state for more than 20 years.
Bright Ideas grants provide funding for innovative, classroom-based projects that would otherwise not be possible. Since 1994, more than 1.8 million students have participated in 9,200 Bright Ideas projects. This year, Jones-Onslow funded more than $65,000 in Bright Ideas grants to 295 educators in 48 eligible schools in Jones, Onslow and Pender Counties.
