Rocky Point Primary students learned about math, reading, writing, science, and geography during a unit on chickens! Students journaled daily about the three types of eggs in their classroom incubator. On the map, they found the original locations of the Dominiques (United Kingdom), Silkies (Asia), and Ameraucanas (South America). They used a calendar to keep track of the number of days left until the eggs would hatch. They created word problems about the different types of eggs, read stories about chickens, and researched online about the development of the chicks in the eggs. When the eggs hatched, each student's parents could come to the school to pick up a chick to bring home.

2010 Hispanic Educational Summit at NC State University Students from Cape Fear Middle, Burgaw Middle, Pender High, and Pender Early College filled a bus on March 26, 2010 to travel to Raleigh for the 2010 Hispanic Educational Summit.
